Come On Down To The Moon!

About Prairie Moon

In 2002 Prairie Moon restaurant opened in Evanston to offer true regional American cuisine in a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Dishes like the Pine-Nut Trout, Cedar-Planked Salmon, a variety of Po’Boys, Brick Chicken, Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffée, and Martha’s Vineyard Salad are popular favorites and have been on our menu for years. But our travels and our curiosity about American cooking keeps us fresh and coming up daily specials derived from all corners of the US.

Vegetarians have plenty to feast on as well, like our Three Sisters Hash made from roasted butternut squash, toasted corn, white beans, sweet peppers, onions, roasted potatoes, garlic sauce.

Prairie Moon pours Evanston’s most distinct selection of small batch and craft beers, spirits, and wines. And if you want local, Prairie Moon is the place to be. We proudly serve a wide variety of Chicago and Evanston- brewed beer and spirits.

As a side note, we’ve been around so long that Prairie Moon is one of the first restaurants to hold a liquor license in the home city of the Temperance movement.

In 2018 we relocated from our original spot on Sherman Ave to our current location at 1635 Chicago Ave in Evanston at Church Street near Northwestern University. You’ll find ample street and garage parking in this location.

The vintage, art-deco era backbar was originally from a an old joint called McCormick’s in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. The bar top is made from recycled flooring from a bowling lane in Michigan.

The expansive but comfortable dining room features rustic wood tables, a semi-private party room and the walls are adorned with the work of local artists. And, of course, the room is filled the smells of delicious scratch cooking!

We strive to continue to be an integral member of the Evanston community, in which our owners and many of our staff live. We are home to many fundraisers and sponsors of local events, non-for-profit organizations, clubs and teams.

We value our locals and passers-through like family. You’ll almost always see one of the owners or familiar face as most of our wonderful staff has been with us for quite a long time.

Thank you and we can’t wait to serve you!

Rob, Tony, Mike and the rest of us at The Moon!
