Prairie Moon in Evanston continues its series “See America” with the Land of Enchantment state, New Mexico!

In the 1930s, the US government created the Works Progress Administration (WPA) as part of The New Deal. Artists were commissioned to create art that encouraged people to get out and travel to other states. Since we are all pretty much stuck at home, we are taking a page from the WPA to bring the states to you!
New Mexican cuisine is particularly distinct in the United States as it derives its flavors from a fusion of Pueblo Native American and Hispano Spanish. Red and green chiles unique to the Rio Grande Valley are the main drivers of the spices and Prairie Moon has brought in fresh Hatch, NM green chile and New Mexican red chile. We hope you enjoy this small sampling of what New Mexico offers to our amazing United States culinary landscape.
