Surly Brewing Beers at Prairie Moon

German Style Munich Helles Larger, 4.5% ABV

Hell is German for light. A pale-gold lager with bready malt aromas and flavors, floral hop aroma, and a balanced finish. Finally, a Surly beer my German mother will drink. She says this one tastes like a bier from back home. Not unlike a Zwickel Bier from Germany, Hell is not filtered and fermented with lager yeast. American hops takes a back seat to the Pils malt sweetness and fresh bread aroma. The color is well… hell (Deutsch for light). It’s fiendishly drinkable, and you don’t have to sell your soul to get another.

Todd the Axe Man

West Coast Style IPA, 7.2% ABV

Surly’s version of the West Coast Style IPA first brewed in collaboration with Amager Brewery in Denmark. Brewed with one malt, Golden Promise from the UK, with Citra and Mosaic hops. If you thinkTodd is a good brewer, you should hear him play his axe (guitar)! Named by Amager’s marketing director Henrik Papsø.

Brett Dark Ale/Sour, 6.66% ABV

100% Brettanomyces dark beer, fermented in stainless and aged in used red wine barrels. “Brett” is a unique yeast strain that produces flavors that would be offensive if they weren’t intentional. Flavors of sour cherry, tobacco, oak, and classic “Brett” barnyard funk, balanced by Dark Munich malt chewiness. Enjoy immediately or age at cellar temperature for a couple years.

Imperial Black IPA, 9.9% ABV

This double black as night IPA is too massive for just one brewery’sefforts. BLAKKR took the trinity of Real Ale Brewing Co., Surly Brewing Co. and Three Floyds Brewing Co. to actualize this crushingale. This Imperial Black IPA has flavors of black licorice and bittersweet hop aromas of pineapple.

Russian Style Imperial Stout, 10.3% ABV

This massive Russian Imperial Stout brings waves of flavors; chocolate, cherries, raisins, coffee, and toffee, finishing with a non-traditional dose of aroma hops. You know this beer. You love this beer. Surly Hell pints for $4.50 & representatives from the brewery on hand to answer any questions and give out Surly merchandise!
